Flash website should meet accessibility requirements
Flash affects the usability of its content for disabled users. Screen readers cannot interpret images of Flash files, nor can they “scan” its content to locate the most important aspects. Since the content of Flash is not exposed as text, screen readers are unable to read the content.
Think about an alternative for disabled users
Since Flash objects are not properly interpreted by screen readers such as JAWS, they affect the accessibility of the content for disabled users. Although the satay method has been very successful in providing access to Flash objects, JAWS still ignores Flash files embedded with this method.
That’s why it is recommended to embed Flash files using a JavaScript method, such a SWFObject and UFO, to expose content for non-JavaScript users. Text-only browsers and screen readers are not JavaScript enabled; therefore they will browse the HTML version provided behind the Flash. In reality, the div is replaced with an equivalent HTML version of the Flash content.
